One militant was Saturday killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Reban village of Sopore in of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Police identified the militant as Shahid Ahmad Sheikh of Kacxhloo village.
According to KNS correspondent, Senior Superintendent of Sopore (SSP) Sopore Harmeet Singh told reporters that after specific information about the presence of militants in the house of Fahmeeda Begum, cordon was launched in the village in the late night hours.
“We offered the militant to surrender but he didn’t,” he said, adding the militant fired upon the forces resulting in an encounter during which he was gunned down.
He said that one AK-47 rifle and some magazines and grenades were recovered from his possession. (KNS)
